The role of nitrogen donor ligands in controlling the reactivity of metal-catalysed transformations has attracted increased importance in organic synthesis. A novel ligand was synthesized via the condensation of 4,4’-(phenylmethylene)bis(2,6-dimethylaniline) with 3,4-di(4-((4-amino-3,5-dimethylphenyl)(phenyl)methyl)-2,6-dimethylanilino)-3-cyclobutene-1,2-dione. Diamine groups in the ligand can form complex via coordination with various metals. A series of catalysts was synthesized using nickel, copper, cobalt and palladium metal precursors. All compounds were characterised by nuclear magnetic resonence, infrared, and ultra violet spectroscopy. The cyclic voltametric experiments were also confirmed the formation of metal complexes. |
