Conjugated polymers are expected to have a great potentials in the fields of electronic and photonic devices, such as polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs), organic photovoltaic cell (OPVs), and organic thin film transistors (OTFTs). A new ionic polyacetylene was synthesized by the non-catalyst polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine by using 2-(bromomethyl)-5-nitrofuran in high yield. The photoluminescence peak is located at 593 nm corresponding to a photon energy of 2.09 eV. The thermochemical and electrochemical properties of this ionic polyacetylene were also measured and discussed. |
