Synthesis and Properties of Poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-styrene) with Photoresponsive Spiroxazine Substituents |
초록 |
The nitrogen lone pair of electrons in polymer have been used for the conversion of uncharged functional groups to charged groups. Nucleophilic substitution is straightforward to functionalize such polymers as polyanilines and polypyridines. Here, poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-styrene) with spiroxazine moieties was prepared by the correspomding reaction of poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-styrene). The photochromic reaction of modified polymer was caused by the reversible heterolytic cleavage of the C(spiro)-O bond under UV irradiation, yielding the colored form that can return to the colorless form by ring closure under visible light irradiation or in dark. The visible range absorption of polymer increased gradually by UV irradiation which is ascribed to the generation of the open merocyanine form from the closed spiro form. |
