In the current project we demonstrated a novel synthesis, characterization and use as a hydrogel nanocomposite as an adsorbent for a novel, effective and highly reusable tailor-made adsorbent for the removal of cationic dye from polluted water with low cost. Hydrogel was prepared by grafting acrylic acid onto a biopolymer in the presence of N, N'-methylenebisacrylamide (crosslinking agent), potassium persulfate (free radical initiator) and TiO2 nanoparticles. Numerous techniques have been applied to the morphology and structure of the hydrogel nanocomposite.Factors affecting the adsorption capacity of absorbents, such as pH of dye solutions, initial concentration of dye, amount of absorbents, and temperature, were investigated and used to propose a plausible adsorption mechanism.Several linear models have also been studied with the adsorption isotherm and kinetic. In addition, adsorbents can be recycled several cycles and results show high reusability and improved removal efficiency. |
