Hydrogen energy attracts attention as urged to develop eco-friendly and sustainable energy. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) material is a fabulous photocatalyst due to its advantages. In this study, we synthesized the colored TiO2 by using previously reported spherical colloid TiO2 nanostructure, synthesized via the sol-gel process under ambient conditions, as a starting material. Since the greater part of solar light is the visible light, we narrow the band-gap of TiO2 through chemical reduction method using Lithium/Ethylenediamine (Li/EDA) solution and used the colored one in photochemical hydrogen production under visible light conditions. We confirm that the reduced TiO2 shows better photochemical properties than the mother TiO2 through physicochemical characterization and photo-electrochemical measurement. The colored TiO2 showed excellent performance in practical photocatalytic H2 production under solar light irradiation. |
