Superhydrophobic properties, which possess extraordinary water repelling properties, are particular interest because of the great variety of potential applications like self-cleaning surfaces, microfluidic devices, and packaging area. In this work, organic-inorganic hybrid coating materials are prepared based on the silane coupling agents with various aliphatic and crosslinking groups. The CNF layer is firstly formed using spray coating that the hydrolyzed silanes are applied to enhance the hydrophobicity of the CNF layer with different functional groups embedded in CNF networks. Moreover, the silanes are expected to form compact structures between cellulose fibers with creating crosslink network and/or hydrosilylation. The water contact angle measurements show an enhancement in hydrophobicity of the hybrid coatings on the CNF. Surface morphology and chemical structure of the coating are characterized using SEM, FTIR, and UV-vis spectroscopy. |
