It is known that lecithin self-assemble into reverse spherical micelles. Also, the reverse spherical micelles can be transformed into reverse cylindrical micelles by addition of salts such as NaCl and CaCl2. The transformation of the structures is closely related to the change of critical packing parameter (ratio of tail area and headgroup area) of lecithin. In this study, we investigate reverse bilayer structures such as vesicles using lecithin and bulky salts like TMACl ,TEACl and TPACl. These salts induce the increase of the headgroup of lecithin, resulting in the formation of reverse bilayer structures. The size of vesicles was studied by using DLS and FT-IR techniques were used to confirm the interaction between the cations and anions of salts and lecithin headgroup. We will study further to have more information of the bilayer structures using SAXS. |
