Enhancing Mechanical Properties of Thermo-Responsive Shape Memory Polymer Prepared by Epoxy Trimer for Chemically Cross-link |

The polymer materials with permanently cross-linked networks cannot be reprocessed and reshaped after being synthesized. Here we synthesized novel crosslinked polymers containing covalent adaptable networks which could exceptively have an ability of re-shapable properties of the final polymers. Thermally-reversible, chemical networks which were insoluble in solvent were triggered by heating because it possessed a number of chemically cross-linked points. These thermoset polymers could show shape memory and recovery capability by controlling adaptable networks. Many cross-link points enhanced mechanical properties and could improve recovery properties such as recoverability and rate. To enhance the mechnical strength, epoxy trimer was used as a crosslinker into the polymer matrix. Depending on the concentration of trimer, glass-transition temperature of shape memory polymer was also changed. |
