제목 Observation of microcrack in graphene using phase transition of liquid crystal
초록 We report a promising method to observe graphene domains grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and unavoidable defects such as crack and pinhole created during growth and transfer processes using liquid crystal (LC). LC molecules well-align anisotropically in accordance with graphene domains and exhibit distinct difference of birefringence images depending on the size of graphene domains. In addition, this approach is useful for in situ visualization of crack distribution and generation process in graphene by external strain. This type of simple observation method would provide an effective route to evaluate the quality and reliability of graphene sheets for various electronic devices.
