Fabrication of phase change materials loaded core/shell structured composite nanofibers via coaxial electrospinning |

One-dimensional polyvinyldene fluoride(PVDF) nanofibers with core/shell structure were fabricated employing three kinds of phase change materials (PCMs) via electrospinning apparatus equipped multi-nozzle. Three polyethylene glycols (PEGs) with different molecular weights - PEG600, PEG1000, PEG6000 as a PCM and PVDF as a fiber matrix were used for the core and the shell, respectively. The microstructure of the multi-cores structured nanofibers was investigated by the electron microscophy. TEM images show that three cores of PEG were encapsulated by PVDF shell. The FT-IR analysis and the water contact angle measurements confirmed the formation of good core/shell-structured nanofibers. DSC measurements showed three independent melting points, which indicates that the core/shell structured composite nanofibers have considerable applications for the fabrication thermo-regulating textile and smart clothes applications in the future. |
