Reconstructed human skin equivalents are widely used in various application and their successful uses depend on the structural integrity. In this study, we hypothesized that an Agarose-Well improved structural integrity in reconstructed human skin equivalents. This study examined the effect of Agarose-Well invaded collagen and regulated hydrophobicity. The enhanced structural integrity of the reconstructed dermis layer, which is model skin, was dependent on the penetration of collagen in Agarose-Well. The Agarose-Well that possess various hydrophilic/hydrophobic balances would allow to produce reconstructed dermis layers with elastic modulus (E) between 6.8 ± 0.95 kPa and 20.9 ± 0.54 kPa. Ultimately, the results of this study will be highly useful to develop the reconstructed human skin equivalents. |
