제목 Copolyacrylates for Heat Resistant Plastic Optical Fiber
초록 Plastic optical fibers(POF) have received extensive interest due to their potential application in optical communication, especially in automobile, aircrafts and vessels, in which electromagnetic interference, rate of data communication and cost of ownership are the major corcern. In those application, heat resistant optical, transparency and mechanical properties of polymers are most important to get satisfied performance. In general, copolymerization is very useful method to control thermal, optical and mechanical properties by using a different monomers. However, when the reactivity ratios difference of two monomers is large, the polymer composition at early stage and final stage is quite different, so called, composition drift phenomena might happend. Eventually, we will have a mixture of various copolymers with different composition and the optical loss will be higher than those of homopolymers.
In this discussion, we will present the effect of composition drift on thermal, mechanical and optical properties and the effective control the composition drift for optical application of copolyacylates
