Phase behavior and orientation of microdomains of block copolymers under confinement has been extensively studied. In this study, the phase transitions of polystyrene-block-poly(n-pentyl methacrylate) copolymer under the hydrostatic and gas pressures was investigated by Fourier-transformed Infra-red spectroscopy, small angle neutron scattering (SANS), and birefringence. Depending on the applied gases, the size of closed-loop consisting of both the lower disordered-to-ordered transition and the upper ordered-to-disordered transition varied dramatically. We also studied the alignment of the microdomains of polystyrene-block-polymethylmethacrylate copolymer confined by rigid hemi-spherical and cylindrical walls.
