As the toxicities of heavy metal ions was critical to the environment and living organism, detecting these heavy metal ions are quite important. Among them, mercury ions are one of the most harmful metal ions due to poisonous effect on human and accumulation in aquatic ecosystems. In this study, we synthesized ratiometric fluorescent peptidyl chemodosimeter (1) for the detection of Hg2+ ions based on aggregation induced emission(AIE), internal charge transfer(ICT), red-emitted fluorophore and the replacement reaction with phenylboronic acid and mercury ions. Mercury ion replace boronic part of the sensor forming covalent hence this reaction is irreversible. This sensor has high selectivity towards mercury ion over various other metal ions. By using this sensing system, we expect that our sensor can detect and remove mercury and methylmercury ions in real sample solution like tap water and ground water. |
