The impact of PES as reinforcement on mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy composites |

The effect of poly (ether sulfone) (PES) as reinforcement in epoxy composites was investigated by mechanical test such as tensile test and impact test and thermal analysis such as TGA (thermogravimetric analysis) and DSC (differential scanning calorimeter). According to addition of various contents PES, the tensile and impact strength of the PES/epoxy composites were increased about 44% and 35%, respectively, than those of unmodified epoxy composites. Also, thermal stability of the PES/epoxy composites was improved 17%, which is calculated with integral procedural decomposition temperature (IPDT) obtained from TGA. The curing behavior of PES/epoxy composites was observed in DSC, which results for the curing temperature and curing heat decrease according to increase of PES contents.
