Triboelectric nanogenerator utilizing triboeletric effect and electrostatic induction have been studied for self-powered energy harvester. We present a simple and various triboelectric platform based on self-assembled monolayers(SAMs) for a molecularly engineered surface. The variation of end-functional groups of SAMs was used for surface charge density control. In particular, by employing fluorine terminated SAMs, we are able to develop a properties fo device with the maximum open circuit voltage and short circuit current of 105 V and 27 μA. The power density was 1.8 W/m2 at the load resistance of 10 MΩ more than 60 times greater than that of an unmodified dielectric/Al device. Moreover, our approach with SAMs was extended to various types of surfaces including fabrics and poly(ethylene terephthalate) film, and the results of single friction-surface triboelectric nanogeneraotrs with these materials offer a facile and universal guideline for designing triboelectric materials. |
