제목 Characterization of supported Titanium dioxide and its photocatalytic activity
초록 The samples of various supported TiO2 were prepared by mixing the titania precursor with supports such as SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2 and so on. The precusors used in this study were Ti(SO4)2 and TiCl3. After the solvent of these mixtures was removed by using a rotary vacuum evaporator, the solid was clacinated.
The samples prepared by impregnation of Ti(SO4)2 show higher photocatalytic activity than TiCl3 impregnated photocatalysts. the supported titania prepared by impregnation of Ti(SO4)2 showed the anatase phase of TiO2 after 700℃ calcination. The sulfate ion was observed on the TiO2 surface to form SO42-/TiO2 according to XPS results. Because of the sulfate ion, acidity should be increase in comparison with pure TiO2. The enhancement of photoactivity may be related to the increased surface area of supported TiO2, and to formation of new surface site originated from SO42-.
