Anatase TiO2 nanoparticle synthesis by flame spray pyrolysis |

Titania is a most widely used photocatalyst. It is reported that the photoactivity increases when the titania is anatase phase of high surface area and high crystallinity. However, high temperature synthesis of titania of high crystallinity forces the crystalline structure to be transfered from anatase to rutile phase. High temperature synthesis method of titania of high crystalline anatase phase is required. Flame spray pyrolysis is a novel method for nano-sized particle synthesis. It disintegrates the primary particles in the product of spray pyrolysis using high temperature flame. In this work, flame spray pyrolysis was applied to the synthesis of TiO2. The crystalline structure of TiO2 prepared by flame spray pyrolysis was anatase phase at high temperature flame condition. And the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 was measured by the decomposition of TCE (trichloroethylene). |
