Graphene, characterized by excellent electronic, mechanical, and thermal property, is a promising material. Among numerous methods, the solution based chemical exfoliation method, the reduction of graphene oxide (GO), possesses strong advantage in bulk production. In this study, we fabricated highly-aligned and interconnected graphene sheets using their liquid crystalline behavior. First, high-concentration dispersion of GO which can exhibit nematic phase behavior was prepared. The solution was uniformly coated on glass substrate and was rapidly frozen with liquid nitrogen, followed by freeze-drying and chemical reduction. Continuously interconnected macroporous structures of reduced GOs (rGO) were investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy. In order to obtain free-standing film, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) pre-polymer was infiltrated into the structure and cured. Finally, we demonstrated the application of rGO/PDMS composite as stretchable conductor. |
