Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted much attention in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology due to their remarkable electronic, mechanical, and thermal properties. However, the nanotubes are insoluble in solvents because of the formation of bundle structures, which hampers chemical, biochemical and medical approaches using these materials. Soluble carbon nanotubes in aqueous and organic solvents are of interest since ones make possible to use the materials in such fields. In this presentation, we describe the dissolution of CNTs in water and in organic solvents by using physical adsorption (Figure 1) and the preparation of nanotube films from dispersed single-walled carbon nanotubes in an aqueous micelle solution.
