At the meeting the synthesis and characterization of poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether) (PPE) via interfacial polymerization will be discussed. PPEs with controlled molecular weight were synthesized by introduction of 2,4,6-trimethyl phenol (TMP) as mono-functional monomer.End-capped PPOs were also synthesized from DMP, TMP and End capping monomers reacting hydroxy group of DMP with benzenes such as 1,4-dibromobenzene, 4,4'-oxybis(bromobenzene), 1,4-bis(4-bromophenoxy)benzene and 4,4'-oxybis((4-bromophenoxy)benzene). Molecular weight characteristics, thermal properties of the end-capped PPOswill be discussed. |
