Rutin-conjugated chitosan-based hydrogels as an injectable biomaterial for wound healing |

Rutin is flavonol glycoside having a wide spectrum of biological activities such as antioxidative and cytoprotective effects and healing of wounds, which has significant ability in enhancing fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. Herein, we introduce a bioactive and injectable hydrogel based on rutin-conjugated chitosan derivatives. Rutin plays a role as a bioactive molecule supporting fibroblast proliferation and collagen production in a injury site. The synthesized polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, UV-Vis and FT-IR. The amount of released rutin from the hydrogel could be controlled by catalytic concentration The degradation of hydrogels was maintained over one month. Extracts from rutin-conjugated hydrogel enhance significantly the fibroblast proliferation. In vivo study showed that rutin-conjugated hydrogel exhibits a high contraction and granulation formation. Our rutin-conjugated injectable hydrogel may be promising materials for wound healing. |
