제목 Suppressed inflammation and enhanced mechanical property of biodegradable polymer using modified magnesium hydroxide
초록 Biodegradable polymers such as poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) and poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) have been attracted in various biomedical applications. However, their degradation byproducts have been concerns because they are the sources of inflammatory reactions in the body. In this work, L-lactide (LA) was grafted on the surface of MgOH nanoparticle via surface-initiated ring-opening polymerization for the effect of pH neutralization and mechanical reinforcement. Their chemical structure, morphology, pH-change, thermal, and mechanical properties were analyzed by FT-IR, DSC, TGA, SEM, and UTM, respectively. Such Mg-OLA nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and their effect on pH neutralization was confirmed. Consequently, the nanocomposites with MgOLA in PLLA are effective in improving biocompatibility by pH neutralization as well as enhancing mechanical properties of PLLA matrix.
