Adhesion peptides with the specific sequences of RGD and YIGSR promote the activation of signaling pathways that can regulate many critical aspects of cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. The RGD peptide, presenting in major ECM proteins, has been extensively investigated as a cell-binding peptide. The YIGSR peptide is derived from the laminin B1 chain and interacts with the 67kDa laminin binding protein (LBP). The LBP represents a family of receptors found in neurons, muscle cells, and many other cell types that are involved in cell attachment to the ECMs. In this study, we found that controlling the density of two different adhesion peptides in alginate gels showed synergistic effects on differentiation of PC12 cells. |
