Silicon has attracted plenty of attention as high capacity anode material for lithium ion batteries because theoretical capacity of silicon (4198 mAhg-1, Li22Si5) is much higher than that of graphite (372 mAhg-1, LiC6). However, extremely huge volume change (around 300%) occurring in lithium insertion/desorption process causes poor cycle performance. In order to solve this problem, silicon oxide (SiOx) which keeps the high reversible capacity and prevents the huge volume change has been proposed. Here, we analyze and evaluate an electrochemical property of product material synthesized by cost-effective sol-gel method using SiCl4 (silicon tetrachloride), ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol. |
