제목 Engineering uniform crystal morphology by controlled evaporation crystallization dynamics
초록 Evaporative crystallization often produces various morphologies crystallites. Because evaporation rates randomly fluctuate at each part of solution surface. If evaporation rate becomes uniform by changing parameters such as thermal gradient and flow rate of evaporated gas, we might be able to produce same morphology of crystals repeatedly. In this study, volatile solvents were used to control the evaporation crystallization of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) with polymer. The growth of crystal could be changed depending on confined flow systems. Crystals could be well aligned in a specific condition and the effect of polymer on the evaporative crystallization could be identified easily. The fabrication of uniform crystals largely relied on where and when the nucleation of crystals is triggered with the controlled evaporation of the solvent. This controlled evaporation rate method could be useful for the future crystal engineering for the development of unique materials.
