Soft carbon for the application as Li-ion battery anode was prepared by condensation of pyrolized fuel oil (PFO) with HBO3 as catalyst and subsequent carbonization process. The presence of HBO3 can reduce the reaction temperature to below 300 C for thermal condensation, and can also act as B doping agent in the final soft carbon product. The influence of thermal condensation temperature and carbonization temperature on the structure of product and the battery performance was investigated. The soft carbon obtained here showed a reversible capacity of more than 280 mAhg1 and initial efficiency of more than 80%, while possessing good rate capability and cycling stability, which is promising to be used as electrode materials. |
