제목 Dehydration of lactic acid over alkali-exchanged heteropolyacid catalysts
초록 Recently, global interest in the production of eco-friendly, high value-added monomers through non-petrochemical processes is increasing. Among them, acrylic acid produced from lactic acid, a biomass-derived resource, occupy the spotlight due to its large demand as an adhesive for high-tech products, and research on the new heterogeneous catalysts for the dehydration of lactic acid (LA) is being actively conducted. This study aims to investigate the activity of alkali-exchanged heteropolyacid (HPA) catalysts for the dehydration of LA and understand their acidity-activity relation, which is critical to design the better catalyst for acrylic acid production. Using Keggin HPA as a model catalyst, we systematically tuned its acidity by ion-exchanging with alkali metals, substitution of heteroatoms (e.g., boron) into the framework, and the impregnation into the support. The structure and acidity of the prepared HPA were fully characterized using various techniques such as XRD, BET, NH3 or CO2-TPD.
