Recently, electrospinning is a useful technique for making sheets as wound dressing. It is easy to manufacture nanofiber sheets with porous environment for efficient drug delivery. In this work, a bilayer sheet was prepared by electrospinning and it is dual drug delivery system to control the release rate. In the bilayer structure of the sheet, the inner layer contains antibiotics for initial release and the outer layer contains skin regenerating drugs for sustained release. In this experiment, poly(ε-caprolactone-co-L-lactide) (PCLA) copolymers with different Tm were synthesized and used to make drug-loaded bilayer sheets. Characterization of the PCLA copolymers were determined using NMR and DSC. In addition, the nanofiber morphology of the bilayer sheets was evaluated by SEM. Also, drug release experiments were performed using Franz Cell and the drug concentration was demonstrated by HPLC. In this approach, in vivo experiments will be conducted to confirm the drug release effects. |
