Polyarylates (PARs) as thermotropic liquid crystalline polymers have attracted great interest from industry and academia because of their high performance in mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties. In this study, we have investigated the influences of plasticizer content on the structure, crystallization behavior, and rheological property of a new type of PAR, which is synthesized by using HBA, HNA, TPA, IPA, and BP. The molecular interaction of the plasticized PARs is examined by using FT-IR spectroscopy. The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of the PARs are analyzed by DSC at different cooling rates. The morphological and crystalline features are characterized by using polarized optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. Temperature-dependent rheological property of the PARs is analyzed with a small-amplitude oscillatory shear using a parallel plate geometry. |
