One of the most widely used methods to introduce initiators on CNT involves reactions under very harsh acidic conditions, which usually results in damaging CNT. In this study, a new synthetic method under mild conditions was developed. Methyl benzene was introduced on the surface of CNT by reacting with para-toluidine, and then benzyl bromide moieties were generated by the bromination of the methyl groups. The existence of the initiating sites was confirmed using Raman spectroscopy, SEM-EDS, and XPS. From the benzyl bromides on CNT, Polystyrene was grafted via the SI-ATRP technique. |
