Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are important candidates for next-generation batteries because of their high energy density and low price. However, LSBs is having difficulties in commercialization because of the significant problem of continuously decreasing capacity due to the shuttle effect. Herein, we propose an N-doped MoS2 carbon composite (nMC) with chemisorption capacity and catalytic activity. nMC helps electron transport to improve electrochemical performance and cycle stability and increases the chemisorption energy of lithium polysulfide (LiPSs). It also acts as a catalyst for the cathode, controlling the conversion kinetics of LiPSs. The nMC electrode accelerates the reaction rate by reducing the activation energy barrier of the Li2Sn to Li2S redox reaction, and prevents the shuttle effect by reducing the highly soluble Li2Sn. Therefore, we developed nMC, a catalyst host material for LSBs, which provides excellent performance as a cathode material for LSBs. |
