Sulfonated Poly(arylene ether)s containing Highly Stable Crosslinkable Moiety PFCB |

The crosslinkable copolymers (CSHQx-TFVy) with various degrees of sulfonation (DS) and crosslinking density. To develop a highly stable PEM for application in PEFC, crosslinked membranes were prepared by chemical crosslinking. The crosslinked membranes were synthesized by varying the amount of crosslinkable moiety PFCB (Perfluorocyclobutane) in order to achieve desirable PEM properties. The crosslinked membranes possessed relatively good thermal stability. The proton conductivity of the membranes was also determined by using an impedance analysis technique. Most the crosslinked membranes exhibited higher proton conductivity than Nafion 212. Moreover, all the membranes possessed lower methanol permeability compared with Nafion 212 under the same measuring conditions. |
