Wear Behaviors of Al2O3-ZrO2-Sulfide Composites Fabricated by Pulse Electric Current Sintering |

Recently, ceramics are very important materials for high temperature applications such as vehicles, aerospace, and space shuttles, etc. In vehicles, more energy during driving is lost due to friction delivered to the wheel, and energy loss consumed by friction is roughly 10 %. Development of low frictional materials at high temperature is very important for vehicles. We focused on the fabrication of self-lubricating ceramic composite using solid lubricants (sulfide such as MoS2 and WS2) for high temperature parts. Solid lubricants are important because lubricants such as gases, oils, and greases are limited for high temperature application. Moreover, wear behaviors of pulse electric current sintered Al2O3-ZrO2 composites with sulfides such as MoS2 and WS2 were investigated. |
