The copolymer solutions were synthesized with 4-vinylbenzene sulfonate and alkaline-treated poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) via free radical polymerization. Alkaline-treated PVDF was used as a macromolecule in conjunction with sodium 4-vinylbenzene sulfonate in the graft copolymerization. The structure of copolymer solutions were investigated by fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis. The membrane properties such as water content, ion exchange capacity, electrical resistance, ion conductivity were measured. Thermal properties of the membranes were examined by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. In view of these results, the chemically and physically developed membranes were easy to fabricate, highly controllable, and can be improved thermal and mechanical properties. |
