Solution Processed Discontinuous MoO3 Hole Transport Layer for Organic Solar Cells |

Buffer layer between anode electrode and photo-active layer collects holes selectively to improve photovoltaic properties. MoO3 is a good candidate for hole transport layer(HTL) because of high carrier mobility and adequate energy level. Researches about solution processable MoO3 buffer layer were hot issues for last few years to reduce vacuum process. Thermal decomposition method is simple and low temperature processable. Film from this method is very thin and not continuous, but it acts as hole transport layer. Conducting AFM(C-AFM) was used to measure the current of photo-active layer with various thicknesses on discontinuous MoO3 layer. Discontinuous MoO3 pattern appears in C-AFM current images with thin photo-active layers, which disappears as photo-active layer thickens. We concluded that discontinuous MoO3 HTL works in organic solar cells because carriers transport though 3-dimensional diffusive morphology of photo-active layer. |
