Ultra Small Angle Neutron Scattering (KIST-USANS) at HANARO Cold Neutron Guide, CG4B1, and Its Applications in Polymer |

One of the breakthroughs in neutron scattering instruments in the 21st century is the development of the ultra small angle neutron scattering (USANS) instrument. USANS is optimized for measuring micron to submicron in size while SANS is for measuring nano scale. When both USANS and SANS were used together, we could measure sizes from micron to nano scale, (i.e, 4 orders in the Q) which is useful when studying the hierarchical and multi scale structures. Recently, KIST has developed the USANS (so called KIST-USANS) at HANARO cold neutron guide hall of KAERI. The instrument design, performance, and examples of application in polymer science will be introduced. |
