In this study the growth characteristics of methane-propane clathrate hydrates on the bubble surface were investigated under constant pressure and temperature. The experiments were carried out with and without the presence of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS), and the morphological differences between pure water and SDS system were observed through microscope. In the case of pure water system, hydrate film initially formed on the surface of bubble and then the dendrite shape of hydrate crystals were developed from the hydrate film into liquid water. On the other hand, the morphology of the hydrate crystals in the system with SDS was different from those of pure water system. These experimental results indicate that the addition of SDS affects growth behavior of hydrate crystal on the bubble surface morphologically. |
