The roles of 4 HALS (eg., 4-amino-, and 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6tetramethylpiperidine) and their N-oxyl stable free radicals were investigated in the decomposition of dibenzoylperoxide and 4,4’-dichloro-benzoylperoxide which is in toluene and chlorobenzene. Firstly, the kinetics was performed as the first order reaction without the participation of HALS in the decomposition of BPOs. The identification of reaction products of 4 HALS and BPOs in toluene and chlorobenzene respectively, which are mostly coupled and partly oxidized products, were confirmed by means of GC-MS spectroscopy and co-injection with synthesized authentic compounds in GC. The reaction pathways were suggested, and the possibility of synergism and/or antagonism of HALS in the decomposition of peroxides was studied. |
