The pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) were prepared based on acrylic copolymers which were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, and acrylic acid with AIBN as an initiator. The acrylic copolymer was further modified with glycidyl methacrylate which introduced the unsaturated groups available for UV curing. Multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were functionalized by means of oxidation and silanization. Silanization of MWCNTs was carried out using 2-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxy silane and confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Thermal stability of ultraviolet-cured acrylic PSAs was investigated with thermogravimetric analyzer depending on the content of silanized MWCNTs. The adhesive characteristics of ultraviolet-cured acrylic PSAs containing silanized MWCNTs were investigated in terms of peel strength, cohesiveness, and probe tack. |
