The Effects of Sucrose on Alfuzosin Physical Mixture |

Alfuzosin is an α1 receptor antagonist used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The primary objective of this work is to investigate the effect through change of concentration of sucrose on physical mixture of Alfuzosin HCl. Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose(HPMC) is one of the most widely used polymer as a drug formulation and therefore has been utilized in this study as an excipient. Thereafter, the sucrose is put into the artificial intestinal juice according to the concentration and the dissolution rate by the sucrose is confirmed. The dissolution rate confirmed through HPLC. After gel is made and lyophilize by tablet, Fourier transform-infrared(FT-IR) is employed to investigate the chemical structure and scanning electron microscope(SEM) is employed to investigate the porosity condition of gel. Through this study, It is confirmed that concentration of sucrose has an effect on the dissolution of physical mixture of Alfuzosin. This research was supported by WCU (R31-20029). |
