In this work, we tailor facile hydrogels nanocomposite (HNC) based on sustainable karaya gum for water treatment. Karaya gum crosslink poly(acrylamide-co-acrylonitrile) @ metal nanoparticle were made by free radical in situ crosslink copolymerization of acrylamide and acrylic acid in aqueous solution of karaya gum stabilsed metal nanoparticles. These hydrogels were used for adsorption of important synthetic dye, i.e. Crystal violet from water. Isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamics of dye adsorption by these hydrogels were also studied. The remarkably high adsorption capacity of dye on the HNC is justified on the basis of H-bonding interactions as well as dipole−dipole and electrostaticinteractions between anionic adsorbent and cationic dye molecules. Thus, HNC may indeed make a significant contribution to the prospective process of water treatment in the future. |
