The performance of Ni/Al2O3 catalysts in propane autothermal reforming (ATR) for hydrogen production was investigated in a fixed-bed flow reactor. Reaction test were conducted using a feed stream of H2O/C/O2=3/1/0.37 in a temperature range from 400°C from 700°C. Catalysts were characterized by using XRD, SEM, EDX, TEM methods. Reaction test result indicated the activity of catalyst manufactured with water-alcohol method was better than the activity of catalyst manufactured with impregnation method and chemical reduction method. The result of SEM and TEM analysis indicated that particle size of active site manufactured with water-alcohol method was smaller and The Water-alcohol method is more dispersive than the other methods. Ni/Al2O3 catalysts were modified by the addition of promoters such as Mg, La, Ce, and Co in order to improve their stability and yield. Hydrogen production was largest for Ni/CeO2-Al2O3. Ni/CeO2-Al2O3 produced less amounts of coke on their catalyst surface. |
