Enhanced Production of Succinic Acid through Strain Improvement and Fed-batch Operations in Bioreactor Fermentations of Actinobacillus succinogenes |
초록 |
Succinic acid used in chemical and pharmaceutical industries is a major fermentation product biosynthesized by Actinobacillus succinogenes microbial cells. Strain improvement was performed through intensive and rational screening strategies. Biosynthetic capability of succinic acid was significantly enhanced when CO2 gas was optimally supplied into fermentor system. Therefore, to determine optimum range of CO2 mass transfer rate (kLa), kLa values were measured based on material balance of dissolved CO2 under various fermentation conditions. Impressive fed-batch fermentation results (1.5 fold higher productivity of succinic acid compared to the parallel batch process) will be also presented. |
