Poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PADC), a commercial water-soluble polyelectrolyte, is used as the electron collecting layer between indium tin oxide (ITO) and active layer for inverted polymer solar cells (PSCs) with poly(3-hexylthiophene) and [6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester as the active materials. The PDAC interlayer is fabricated by a simple solution process, and different concentrations on the PDAC interlayer are optimized. The PDAC interlayer on ITO could decrease the work function of ITO and hence lead to the suitable energy level alignment for efficient electron collection. As a result, the inverted PSCs with the PDAC interlayer exhibited a power conversion efficiency of 2.64% under AM1.5G illumination, which is significantly higher than that of the control inverted PSC with blank ITO and comparable to that of the control inverted PSC with ZnO. |
