Tamarind gum has been effectively used to promote anti-microbial reactions when administered topically. Levan is a carbohydrate produced by plants or micro-organisms, and fructose are linked by β-2,6 bonds. In this study, using the Tamarind gum and Levan were prepared hydrogels with high biocompatibility. The freeze-thaw method was used to prepare a hydrogel. Prethanol-A added to promote aggregation of the hydrogel. Thermal stability of the prepared hydrogel is confirmed by TGA, and the swelling property observed by measuring the swelling ratio. The dried hydrogel is a surface observation using a scanning electron microscope(SEM), the structure of the hydrogel is observed by the FT-IR. Performing the anti-microbial test and MTT-assay to determined the biocompatibility. By the evaluation of the physical properties of the prepared hydrogel, tested possibility for biomedical materials like drug delivery, wound dressing, cosmetics. |
