제목 Effects of electrolytes on EK-Fenton process for removal of phenanthrene
초록 Removal of phenanthrene by electrokinetic (EK) method combined with Fenton-like process was studied in a model system. Sand and phenanthrene were selected as a model soil and a representative PAH, respectively. Sand was initially contaminated at the concentration of 500 mg phenanthrene/kg dry sand. Three kinds of electrolytes, NaCl, KH2PO4, and MgSO4, were used to determine their effects on electroosmotic flow (EOF) and removal efficiency. When hydrogen peroxide was penetrated into the soil by electroosmotic phenomena, the Fenton-like reaction occurred by catalysis of iron existing naturally in soil. When hydrogen peroxide was added into the system, it showed removal efficiency ranged from 65.4 to 83.4 % for 7 days. When just water was used, removal efficiency was 26.0 - 53.5 %. Among three electrolytes, when NaCl was introduced to the system, it represented the highest accumulated EOF that was 316 to 371 mL and the highest removal efficiency for 7 days. Accumlated EOF of KH2PO4 and MgSO4 were ranged from 106 to 277 mL.
