Thermal decomposition of (Cat+)[ReS4] for facile formation of ReS2 |

Transition metal di-chalcogenides (TMDCs) have been widely studied for various applications such as future electronic materials and catalysts. Among them, ReS2 has been especially interested due to its direct bandgap property regardless of the number of layers. There are many kinds of method for synthesis of ReS2 including vapor deposition process, solution process, and etc. In the solution process, single source precursors for coating and subsequent thermal decomposition processes enable a largescale, low-cost synthesis of two-dimensional transition metal di-chalcogenides (TMDs). However, practical applications based on two-dimensional TMDs have been limited by the lack of applicable single source precursors for the synthesis of TMDs including layered Rhenium disulfide (ReS2). Therefore, we synthesized suitable precursor for ReS2 directly referenced and revised the reported method and revised it to the situation. We firstly demonstrate the simple and facile synthesis of ReS2 layers using a single source precursor In addition, this study verifies the possibility of ReS2 layers for industrial applications in photodetector. |
