Arrangement of Microdomain Structures of Block Copolymers Confined by Hemi-sphere |

The arrangement of the microdomains in block copolymers changes significantly compared with that in bulk, when they are confined at certain geometries (cylinders or spheres). Here, we study, via scanning and transmission electron microscopy, the changes of the microdomains of polystyrene-block-poly(methyl methacrylate) copolymer confined by hemi-sphere wall. This constraint was introduced by using anodic aluminum oxide template. The wall of hemi-sphere was treated by three different brush layers: (1) PS, (2) PMMA, and (3) neutral brushes. Many interesting morphologies which have not been reported are found. |
