The activated carbon has the largest surface area at around 2000 (m2/g) and high porosity, which allows the absorption of a large number of ions was applied as electrodes in electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs). The ACs for EDLC electrodes are required to have a high surface area and an optimal pore size distribution that are important to high specific capacitance of EDLC. The electrodes were fabricated by compounding the commercial and rice husk activated carbons with acetylene black mixed polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in a weight ratio of 90:5:5. The AC electrodes and aluminum foils are assembled with salt solution TEABF4 and ACN as the electrolyte. In the experiment, the electrochemical properties of AC electrodes in EDLCs were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, constant current charge-discharge and specific capacitance measurement.
